The Dissenters' Gallery, Kensal Green Cemetery

The Dissenters' Gallery //
Kensal Green Cemetery // Ladbroke Grove, London W10

The asymmetrical Dissenters' Gallery features five walls suitable for hanging, adjustable spot lighting and natural light from a picture window at the entrance.

The adjacent Dissenters' Chapel, decorated to designs by Owen Jones, includes fixed and moveable seating, a two-tier lectern and pulpit, and covered portico overlooking the Dissenters' Section of Kensal Green Cemetery. Hire of the chapel includes the use of up to 30 chairs, with additional seating for 20 or so in the two collegiate-style pews facing one another along the chapel walls.

The space also includes shared use of a small storage room, kitchen and accessible unisex toilet. Exhibitors are asked to accommodate a permanent display of the Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery's publications and merchandise, and the arrival of visitors on the Friends' weekly cemetery tours, that conclude at the Gallery around 16:00 each Sunday.

The Dissenters' Gallery and Dissenter's Chapel, at the south-eastern corner of Kensal Green Cemetery, are available separately or together for hire by the week or month. With a door directly onto Ladbroke Grove and a separate gate into the cemetery, the Gallery and Chapel function as a discrete space, suitable for exhibitions, installations, lectures, readings, meetings, and activities sympathetic to this unique site.

Potential exhibitors are asked to present a representative sample of the work to be exhibited in advance. Exhibitors are expected to staff the Gallery during their own opening hours, advertise the exhibition and produce their own publicity materials. Wherever possible, the Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery will publicise exhibitions and related events through the Friends' Magazine, Web site and e-mail distribution lists. Exhibitors are expected to keep the gallery clean, tidy and secure, and to respect the fabric of this Grade II* Listed building.

Kensal Green is a working cemetery within a diverse community, so we ask that the use of the Gallery and Chapel respect the needs of other visitors and the General Cemetery Company.
